I’m back at the Rose Lipman Building in De Beauvoir this Autumn with Monday Night Quilt Club.
Between now and Christmas, I will guide you through the process of making your own set of table mats and/or coasters using traditional hand quilting techniques.

Monday 6th October - Design
Inspired by Picasso’s paper cuts, we will use bold paper shapes to help create designs for each set of mats based on a theme of your choice.
Monday 20th October - Background Mat
We will be making the base of the mats by using a basting stitch to hold the three layers — the top fabric, batting, and backing — together.
Monday 3rd November - Appliqué
We will try both ‘appliqué’ and ‘reverse appliqué’ techniques and prep our shapes ready to sew onto our mats.
Monday 17th November - Quilting
We will continue to appliqué our designs and start to quilt our mats using a simple running/quilting stitch.
Monday 1st December - Final Touches
We will learn how to chain stitch, add any further details or text to our mats, and prepare our border pieces.
Monday 15th December - Borders
We will finish off our mats by adding a border using a sewing machine, and use our mats and/or coasters to have a celebratory meal together!

All abilities are welcome! No booking required. No worries if you miss sessions, you can jump in at any time and can always take part!
The sessions are free, but if you'd like to contribute £5 towards materials, snacks, and refreshments, that would be great!
